About No Kill Louisville
Mission Statement
Through the support and creation of programs and services, collaboration, and advocacy, No Kill Louisville will build a community where no adoptable pet or feral cat is killed.
Vision Statement
We envision our community as a place where no adoptable pet or feral cat is killed, regardless of resources, economics, and politics.
Defining No Kill:
Those who began “No Kill Louisville” believe it is possible to save every “adoptable” animal in Louisville. This does not mean that no animal should be euthanized. We believe that animals who are suffering from illness or injury and cannot be treated should be humanely euthanized with gentleness and compassion.
We also recognize that at this time in history our nation does not have the full resources to rehabilitate those animals who have been abused and neglected and due to that abuse or neglect are dangerous to people and other animals. We also feel animals properly assessed and deemed “too dangerous” must be humanely euthanized with compassion.
It must also be stated that feral/owned cats have a special place in our definition of “adoptable” due to the effectiveness of Trap-Neuter-Release programs, better known as TNR, to lower the population and the ineffectiveness of current “catch-and-kill” models used by many shelters today. In addition, we recognize that as the No Kill movement expands and changes these definitions may also need to change. We will not hamper ourselves or this movement by the inability to change but instead we will move forward, reassess, and evolve as required.
About Rescue Bank Pet Food Distribution Program
Rescue Bank SM is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the animal rescue and rehabilitation community with much-needed supplies and services.
Each year, millions of pounds of nutritious pet food is removed from circulation because it is nearing expiration, has been re-branded, or may have been packaged incorrectly. To prevent wasting this food, Rescue Bank SM arranges for collection and redistribution in truckload quantities to animal rescue and owner retention groups all across the country. Rescue Bank SM provides a reliable means for using excess product – benefiting both the manufacturers and non-profit groups.
The Rescue Bank SM Pet Food Distribution Program supports the pet rescue community with a network of regional affiliates distribution partner centers. These centers receive truckload donations scheduled by Rescue Bank SM and distribute pallet quantities to qualified recipients.
